A CHILDREN'S PARTY.

A very, jolly children-'s partywas held in. the Catholic Parish Buildings on Saturday afternoon—its object, the augmenting of the funds for the sweet stall for the Convent;', Garden Tarty which is to be held cm Saturday. This happy function was; well attended J. by -the young folk and their parents and friends, and was, ,in '..every way, most successful. The proceedings opened with an effort—by the children—^to demolish an illusive suspended apple^ befoTe his neighbour coiiild accomplish that by no means easy feat! Theyier tors proved to be Miss-Eileen J£elly jand Master Bramige. . Next came-a humourous . recitation by little ■•.--'Miss Betty - Elliott,' Jtfter which; $Kf* '■pio^r. Elliott gave a display of fancy skipping a clever perf ormanc c fox so small a maiden. 'Then: a ehairming little action song by a naive little songster of some iive years (little Miss Joyeie Webster) "My Alice Blue' -Gotoi,^',;: wiiifc sic wore! These three small persons axe pupils- of Miss Bartosh. Then came a very realistic .dramatisation, in costume, of a policeman on duty, by Miss Betty Elliott, after w-iich the young people took- charge of the floor, and fox-trotted with evident enjoyment, till -afternoon tea—foT the adults—rwas announced. Mrs. W. S. Brice'was the ac«ompaniste for the afternoon. The remainder of th« afternoon passed most nappily for the children, for after an. appetising afternoon tea, games and dancing were entered into with zest, till it was time to say good-bye. Tie energetic committee which was responsible for this deUgh-ttful party, and Messrs Gibbs, Gleary, Trade and Evans, deserve great credit for the lengthy '••«copper-trail "which materialised fonder their direction by the close of the afternooni .
