A DEPLORABLE INCIDENT.
We deeply regret to report an incident in connection with. Anzaie Bay, which reflects the greatest discxecla-t on. some person who visited the Cenotaph: after the service and purloined a cap ribbon of the ILM.S. "Salvia" from one of the wreaths. It has beea the custom of Oapt. Olphert each, year t* place a wreath on the Oenotapih in the Beereation Ground in memory of the men who were lost when tie HJI& "Saivia". was torpedoed. As Gap*! Olphert was in command of the am» at the time of tiae disaster, when so many of his contfades were lost,. It may be realised how deeply he reseato such saeralege. The cap ribbon whiot he ea«h year placed on tihe wreat*, was practically tho only souvenir J» possessed of his late ship. The riiibow was probably removed by some tovnglrtless child and rt is hoped that this meditm will bring it under tihe notice of the parent* concerned who will tajce steps to have it returned either to the owner or to this office.
