Mr. Strong, president, occupied the chair at tha monthly meeting of tibe Lower "Hutt CJivic Association. ;
The .suggestion, made at. the Wellington Hospital-Board's meeting that the Hospital reserve at Lotrer Hutt be sold, and the money invested, was discussed. Members considered that an auxUiary ihospital was/ urgently Required for the Hutt Valley. The population of 25,000 residents and the continual opening up of residential areas warranted facilities for the treatment of clinical, casualty and maternity patients. It was re-, marked that Greytown, Masterton, Pa"hiatiia and Otaki possessed district hospitals. It was decided to ascertain from the Wellington Hospital Board whether the suggested sale of t&e reSjerve indicated a prospective hospital for the valley. ,- (
The practice of cyclists riding on the bitumen road to and from tie Lower Hutt. ißailway Station when a cycle track is provided, . was condemned as dangerous to .motor-vehicle traffic It v/as Tcsolved to request, tihe Bbrougih 'Coimeil to erect at the converging roads a notice board warning cyclists, and to enforce the by-law prohibiting bicycle riding on the bitumen road.
