SPEED LIMITS

PROPOSED ABOLITION

The North Island Motor Union has.

decided in favour of a remit that all speed limits be - abolished, and that '' driving-. ...to the ~ common danger '... be substituted therefor. .

'The discussion was brief. Mr I. "V. Wilson in submitting the

proposal, said that it might be danger}--ous at one minute to drive at a certain place at 10 miles an hour, yet half an horn* later it would be quite safe to

drive at 30 miles an hour. The proposal, was a move in the right direction. Mr F. Amore (TaTanaki) seconded the motion, saying that sometimes motor.ists could see notices on the road'limiting sneed to ten miles an hour and could not even see what place they were driving through. Driving to the common danger would fdl the bill. The chairpnan (Mr W. O'Callaghan) : I am in favour of it. It is bound to come, and we should keep on hammer-

ing away at it.
