FAREWELL SOCIAL.
A social was iheld in Wesley Hall on Tuesday, 'Bth inst, to farewell Eev. and Mrs C H. Olds, who have left for Invergargill. Mr. Cody was chairman, and speeches were given by Rev. James (Petone Circuit), Yen. Archdeaccori Hans*ell (Cihurch of England), Mr. T. W. Attwood (local preachers), Mr. W. H.. Johnston (Sunday Sc-hool), Mr. C. A. Russell (Young People's Departments), Mr. E. Dawson (choir), and Eev. Lopdell (St. Stephen's). The circuit steward, Mr. A. J. Johnston, presented Mr. and Mrs. Olds with a handsome clock and a wallet from the congregation and the children eacii received a bok from the Sunday School. Mrs. Olds was also the recipient of a bouquet and^ two leather-bound volumes ;from the Kia- Hiwi Girls' Glub of which she was president. After Mr. Olds -had replied, items were gjiven by Mrs. Johnston, Miss Saunders, Mrs. Aldersley and the choir, and the function concluded v with supper and the singing of Auld Lang Syne. ■
