HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
The monthly meeting .i>f the ,Hutt Valley Horticultural Society Committee was .held, last week, the president, Mr. D; S. Patrick, presiding over a good attendance. .
On the mtion of the chairman, votes of sympathy were passed to the Telatives of thela*e r-- **• Ris-hworth, a past president of the - Society, and of the late Mr. A. W. Dixon, a member of the Society. The motion was carried in silence, all members,standing.
It was. reported that\ arrangemeii'ts were well in hand for the Autumn Show 011 16th. and 17t>li inst. Consideraible satisfaction was expressed", by all present that Their Excellencies, Lord and Lady Bledisloe, wowld honour the .Society by opening its show on Wedjnesday■ afternoon. With t-he assistance of the Borough Council, it has been arranged to display bunting an the street and- it is hoped that local business people will be able to assist in the same- direction.
'The - pi'esident made an appeal for more lady helpers to assist at the stalls and in the tea rooms'and said t»hat the Society would be deeply grateful if any ladies, willaig to assist, would send in their names to^ the secretary. as ; on account of the Vice Kegal visit, it was .antieipatod that the attendance would be iarge and so .more. Help would be required, in the tea rooms.
