RUGBY NOTES.
Tour teams from the Oriental Club will engage local teams in practice games this Saturday on Strand Park. Fourth Grade players will play early on No. 1 Ground;. Senior on No. 1; Senior B and Junior (mixed) on No. 2, and Third Grade~ on No. 3 at 3 p.m. All players desiring a game are requested to put in an appearance at ti.o gymnasium to-night or if unable to attend to roll v pon Saturday.
On the following ;Sa#.urd!ay. (12t?h> inst) the Senior team will play Old Boys in a gymnasium benefit match fixture. A cuTtain raiser may possibly be ■ staged by Junior team from eaten club. -
The Fourths will play a curtainT-aiser to the Petone-Poneke match on the
game day.
In connection with, tihe matches on the 12th we beg to point out that tickets are on sale which admit to any fixtures -that is at P.etone, Hutt or Athletic Park. In purchasing tickets sold by members, supporters -will be directly assisting the finances of tfae local club, as all ticket sales are handed back to the clubs intact, but by paying at the gate the local club will only receive a very small percentage of the takings as all gate receipts are pooled and apportioned out. Tickets are on sale at Mr. G. Phillips, Mr. H. S. Duddin-g's, Mr. E. Skilton's (Town Hall Buildings); t»hey may also be purchased from numerous club members.
Coaches: —Tie following have been appointed to the Lower Grades:—
Sixth, Mr. Hand; Fourth, Mr. Scott ■enr.; Fifth, Mr. J. McKay (protem).
Fifth and Sixth Grade players are requested to report on Mondays and Wednesdays and Fourth Grade on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7 to 8 p.m. All the,. above coaches will be in attendance at the gymn. to-night (Thursday) to takfe particulars of players—new, and old.
More piayers are wanted for each of these grades, so boys wanting to join up should report, right away. A game Bas been arranged for the fourths against Oriental at Strand Park this Saturday, starting about 2 p.m.
Good progress is being made with the painting of the gymnasium. Manyhands, including several players, covered a lot of ground during the week-end. There remains only t»he two ends to be done this week-end.
New playeTs should make a point of .playing in the various practice matches so that team selectors can see them
