LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.
The local branch, of tie League of Mothers held its first meeting for the year last Thursday when There was a very good attendance of members. la addition to the ordinary business the annual report and balance sheet was presented by the President, in the absence of the Secretary, Mrs Chisholm. Laudatory references were made^ to the healthy state of the branch and congratulations extended to the committee for the excellent year' 3 work. The election of officers resulted in the reelecting- the President, Mrs E. Dawson, the secretaries Mesdames Ghisholm and Mason, and the treasurers Mesdames
Saunders and Cameron. Mesdames Aldous, Oppenheim and Martin were added to the committee and everything augured well for a successful year's work.
Reference was made to the departure of the Lady Alice Fergusson and members were urged to carry on the work of tihe League so dear to her heart on the lines so clearly defined by her.
Mrs. Kersley was granted leave of absence fot the year.
During the afternoon Mrs. Burgess sang delightfully and Mrs Jollands played incidental music. Afternoon tea,was served by a strong committeeand everything pointed to a happy and successful session.'
It was announced that tihe next meeting will be April ,10th, the second Thursday, because of the flower show on the usual third Thursday, and that the speaker would be Mrs J. S. Elliott, the newly elected Dominion and provincial president. .
