WAIWHETU DOINGS.

A successful social and dance was held in tihe Anglican Church Hall by the Waiwhetu School Committee on Saturday, 15tih March, the hall being just pleasantly full for dancers. The wedding of Mr. Pat. Pukatapu and the accompanying celebrations on tiie same evening, took some of the usual njianber of patrons away from us to his home-

It was noticed that non-dancers. had a. quiet time, so it has been decided that in future tables for euchre will be provided, so that non-dancers may enjoy a game. Ice-creams were also on sale, but it being an innovation and unexpected, it-was an unprofitable venture, as very few had brought money except for admission. They will know -for . future, occasions however.

The next dance will take place on Saturday of this week, 29th March, wlheri we hope to have more Maori items, no otiier wedding, being in the offing that we know of. An advertisement will be found elsewhere of this affair, and of the outdoor carnival to be held in. the school grounds on the afternoon of the same day. , Produce, etc., will be on sale, guessing competitions, nail-driving, games etc from 2 p.m till 5 p.m., and at 8 p.m the Social, Dance and Emc&re will commence in the 'Anglican Hall in Whites Line. All proceeds will go to'the improvement of the school groundsr, for the benefit of'both ■children and gifown-ups who wish to vse the place-, tennis courts (hard) being already available for the small sum -of 5/- from now on, till September 30th, every day after 4.30 p,m and all day Saturdays and holidays.
