HUTT BIVER BOABD'S BALANCE-
SHEETS.
Sir,^-Mr. C. Gros.telow, member, of the Board, in his criticism regarding the Givie Association's examination of the Statement of Accoimts of the Biver Board, failed to explain the cal" process pursued whereby redemption of^inscribed loans for amortization of its debt is attained. Why -■ are no essential explanatory ! notes given in Schedule,2 of the 1927----28 and 1928-29 balance sheets? In the two statements this Schedule shows tiie figures of inscribed loans repayable eaeh-yeax from 1931 to 1935, inclusive, to be the same. Do the loans function under the Netr Zealand Loans Act, 1908, the New Zealand Inscribed Stock Act, ot what Statute? To prevent alleged misconceptions the rule of t&e science of statistic? should be observed in balance-sheets published for examination, i.e., statement and figures shall disclose instantly the exact position bf^finanee. —I am etc. - .-.■■■ G. A. STBONGy
