VOTING ANALYSED.
Vdting at the recent Hutt by-election. is interestingly analysed by the" Chief Electoral Officer (Mr G. G. Hodgkins) in a return, issued on Thursday*
The votes e£st totalled 12,558, of which 105 were informal. As the number of electors on the roll was 16,298, some 3740 did not exercise the right of franchise. The percentage of votes recorded for the elected candidate (Mir W. Nash,- M.P..)' to the total number ,of electors on the roll was 30.97 andtothe total valid votes recorded 40.53.
Other details are supplied as under: Mien on roll, 8204; women on roll 8094; proportion per .cent; of men and women on roll, men 50.34, women 49.66; men who voted,. 6693; women who voted 5865; proportion per cent of votes by
men. and women respectiveily to total" number of votes recorded: men 53.3, women 46.7; percentage of votes .recorded by men and women; on the roll, men 81.58, women 72.46; percentage of the total number of votes recorded to the total number of electors on the roll, 77. 05; percentage of informal votes recorded, 0.83.
