The day, the teachers, the children, and the visitors were simply a combination of brightness, jolity, and friendship.

HUTT VALLEY ELECTRIC POWER BOARD. AN ENJOYABLE OUTING

OBSERVANCES BY &NTFKTNS— POWtBK BOAOKD POTTED PICNIC.

Hector MJcßain definitely proved a! runner in the 220 yards,'only being beaten by 50 yards. He spent the re^ mainder of the afternoon in the hori-, zoatal position watching the clouds roll iby.

Some of the ladies in the nail driving'event showed talent equal to builders' carpenters, making beautiful sunken designs on-the timber, and hitting the nail at irregular intervals.

The workshops tug-of-war team were fortunate in having the bulky services of Electrical-fitter Hearne, and should congratulate themselves that he is not a member of the line staff.

The exponent on the E flat cornet in the Staff band is undoubtedly a splendid motor-mechanic, and Bert on the banjo is also an electrical fitter. .

3E. F. H. showed good form on the ice-cream stake, and would be hard to beat in this event.- He could undoubt-

edly make hacks of other starters, unless handicapped well.

Signor and Signorina McCarthy made a "honeymoon" of the .sprint events, otherwise a' "sweet thing. f}

Cup:winner Tl. Carr was a popular starter and winner, of the 220 yards, and was quite fit enough after the face to lay down for a while. :

The apples from "The Mart" were a very acceptable donation. . ,

The "Press Challenge Cup" was a fine thought, as was the '* Stewart Pram." . .

Inspector Alf Taylor showed great taste f OF-dishing out the Ice-cream, and undoubtedly is a great committee-man.

The Saveloy stakes took place at the residence of Foreman Delaney.

It is: understood that Ted Sullivan gave a trophy.

I/ittle Miss Ready delighted the crowd by her exhibitions of acrobatics. (We don't believe in class-distinction. The. G-.M. took a wonderful snap of Hector shortly after the 220.

It was very gratifying to see such a splendid attendance .-of Board members.

Mr and Mrs lioss and family were in attendance from Plimmerton.

■ Cashier Neazor was a very , haTd grafter and she looked her best in one piece frock with hat to match.

BUTT VALLEY LOCAL BODIES.
