One of our local business men ihad a 'miraculous, escape from what the onlookers thought would prove to be a fatal motor accident jon Monday inorning last. To the accompaniment of loud shrieks from the onlookers the hero of t&e moment, with an athletic spring-leaped into the air, but before he could take his seat com-fortably-on the bonnet the car struck frim in t&e anatomy and he was ruthlessly flung six yards into the middle of the street. To the surprise of every one he picked himself up and went on with his business quite unconcerned. Although he afterwards owned up to a "little* shaking and a few bruises he had the: satisfaction of learning that the motor ear had, on this occasion, come off second best r for tihe weight of his body had made c decent dent in the , bonnet besides breaking an iron bar in front of the car.
