A cieeting of the Lower Hutt Borong)i Coutvjil was held last evening. Present: Mayo-- <Bir A. Roberts) Councillors A. J*.' Holnjs, J. Mitchell, A JOrierson, F. CaiSjf^e!^ A. E. Carver, Dr, Soyd, D. S. Patrick, W. G. Meldrum, A. Mcßain.

The Minister of Justice wrote acknowledging the Council's leter in reference to a fine inflicted by local Justices in the-'Lower Hutt Court, and stating that although the penalty inflicted appears to \)Q light the presiding Justices are satisfied that it is a reasonable one in view of all the circumstances of the ciase and the financial position of the defeiaidant.—Received. »
