STENT 'S BREWERY

The second annual picnic of Stent's Brewery Staff was held at Hutt Park on Wednesday last. There was a large attendance of friends and pleasureseekers. The committee comprised Messrs T, Benson. Bert Johnson, C. Hanson, E. Hunn,- G. Wilbey, and J; Bradcock.

Among those present were Mr and Mrs Darrall, who presented the prizes.

All that is a delight to the children was there in plenty—toys, sweets, and

ice-creams,

A varied programme of sports events wa& decided, and many close finishes

were witnessed. ■ The la.dies r race created a good deal of interest. The winner, Mrs Smith, was tlie recipient of a beautiful liea-set. The runner-up, Mrs Wilbey, re 1 ceived a handsome, case of sanciwich plates and dishes; Both prizes were don^ ated by «Mr and Mrs Darrall.

A feature of the day was the cricket match between teams chosen from the Brewery and. McEwen, Carter and Co. After a keen and interesting contest, the game ended in a draw.

Mr Darrall expressed Ms pleasure at the success of the gathering,, and congratulated those responsible. -

Mr "Mot" Welch suitably replied, thanking Mr and Mrs Darrall for their generous donations, which had gone to make the picnic" the decided .success it had been. He also thanked Messrs -McE.wen, Carter and Co. for the use of their motor, lorries. Messrs Hec. Winnie and Arthur Mxri]is replied in appropriate

terms,
