If the soil is suffieiently^rieh, it is not advisable" to give the plants liquid manure, as it will have-a tendency to make.the flowers coaTse and flabby. If some stimulant is necessary, soak about twenty pounds of fresh cow manure and two pounds of soot in a vessel containing twenty gallons of water, and, after it has been steeping for three or four days, give it to the plants at a strength of one pint of liquid manure to one gallon of water; or, sulphate of ammonia, one ounce to four gallons of water, may be used.
