TRIENNIAL ELECTION.
Nominations closed last week for tie triennial election of five mem-, bers of the Hutt. Biver Board, which will be held on 14ti. January. The returning officer (Mr A. J. Gearing), rt. eeived the following eleven nominations:—Arthur JSobert Barnes, Taita; George A. Chapman, ' Lower , Hutt; Cecil Gostelow, Lower^ Hutt; IVederisk. Seymour Hewer, Taita; George Hooper, Taita; Herbert Ernest Leighton, Lower Hutt; John Mitchell, Lower Hutt; Alfred. James Noble, Petone; TThomas Edward Shief, Lower Hutt; Walter Harold Smith, Lower Hutt.

The sitting members of' the board a/c Messrs Hewer, Smith, Gostelow and Mitchell. The chairman (Mr W. T. Strand) 2ias retired. .-
