WELLINGTON SUMMER MEETING

THE NOMINATIONS

The Wellington Racing Club last night received the excellent total of 799 nominations for its summer meeting to be held on Saturday, Monday and Wednesday, January 18, 20, and 22. It is 102 less than the record total of 902 twelve months ago, is better' than the four preceding years, there being 684 in 1925, 673 in 1926, 733 in 1927, arid 748 m 1928. Lg.st.year theje was really an embarrassing number of entries, one of the races on the opening .day having to be fun in. divisions. As usual the class of horse engaged is representative of the -whole of the Dominion and includes best class.

There are 27 in the Wellington Cup, including the/Auckland Cup 'winner, Concentrate, also Star Stranger, Historic, Paquito, Silver Paper, Hunting Cry, 'Shrewd/ Glare, Proddce, In the Shade, Bright Glow, and last year's winner, | Yertigern. The sprinters include Hunting Cry, Meadow Lark, Knightlike, Great Charter, Silvermine,. Silver Paper, Toxeuma, Cimabue and Great Star.

Handicaps for the first day are due-to make their appearance on Friday next.

Fruit stains on linen may be removr ed/by sponging with lemon juice and then washing with' hot water. If lemon is not available, borax will be found just as effective. -
