Wedding.

At St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Up-

per Hutt on Thursday afternoon, by the Rev. lather Kelly, the marriage was solemnised of Kathleen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Bowe of Westport, to James, son of tie late Denis Moriarty of Waipawa and Mrs. Ridge, of Wanganui. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. Martin Bowe, wore a navy and blue travelling costumeand carried a bouquet of primroses, primulas, fresios, and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Phyliss Rathbone, niece of- Mrs, Hugh Telford, of Trentham, wore a nigger brown and fawn ensemble and carried a bouqt-'et of brown oTehidts. Mr. Bon. Telford of Trentham was best man. After the marriage ceremony, a reception attended iby about forty guests was theld at the residence of Mrs Hugh Telford, the reception room being very tastefully decorated with spring flowers, balloons and streamers. The happy couple left .at 8 p.m for Wanganui where the honeymoon is to be spent. The future homo of Mr. and Mrs. Moriarty will be in Trentham. Children's Fancy Dress Ball. A Children's Fancy Dress Ball in aid of .the funds of St. Joseph's Orphanage, Upper Hutt, was held at the Record Hall on Friday evening last and was an unqualified success, over a hundred j children attending in fancy dress. The jtfdges, Mesdames H. G. Rutter, G. A. Chapman and Campbell of Lower Hutt, had a very difficult task to select the winners, but their final awards gave complete satisfaction. The following were the prize winners:—Shepherdess, Frances Small; Gaiety Girl, Ngaire Spearman; Yale Blues, Myrtle Williamson ;Aviatfon, S&Mey Hanron; Parcel Post, Maureen Williamson; Reckitt's Blue, Colleen Feehan; Golden Pierette, Hazel Jones; Keep Off the Grass, Teresa Martin; Chicken, Moiya Feehan; Powder Puff, Barbara Steel; Chinaman, Justin Small; Maori, Rose Hay; Sorry I Made You Cry, .George Farrow; Tom Heeney, Willie Strickland; Railways, Kevin O'Connor; Plus Two, Terence Farrow; On the Road, Jack Gow; Tramp, Jack Coomber; Witch, Barbara Leighton; Little Irish Girl, Winona HenTy. Miss Molly O'Flaherty, as "Daisy" let the Grand March. During the evening t&e pupils of Miss K. Bartcsh's Lower Hutt School of Dancing, gave a splendid exposition of the terpsichorean art in the following items —Policeman Dance, Betty Elliott; Skipping Trio, Rita Gillen; Olgia Pope, and Jean Gunn; Gaiety Girl Dunce, Diana Elliott; Song and Dance, Wedding in Fairyland, Joyce Welb3ter; Dutch Duo, Betty Elliott and Jean McMahon. Miss Bartosh is to be congratulated on the high state of proficiency to wMeSi she has brought her small pupils and her generosity in bringing them from Lower Hutt to assist in making the ball so suuccessful was much appreciated by the Sisters and the Committee. The Committee which organised tho Ball, and Mrs. Jas. O'Connor its energetic secretary, are deserving of great praise for the way in which they carried out their duties, The prizes were presented by Mrs. B, 8.-Woods.

Motor Accident at Trentham Level Crossing.

An addition to the long list of level crossing motor accidents in New Zealand ws mdc on Saturday evening last when a Ford car containing four young men named Sanderson, Auld, McKegney and Butler, ran into a goods train proceeding to Upper Hutt. It appears that the car, which was driven by Sanderson, who did not notice- the train approaching, struck the side of the engine and was turned completely around, Sanderson, Auld and McKegney susr taining injuries which necessitated their removal to Wellington Hospital. Butler, who was not seriously hurt, was removed to his home. Maori Mission.

A feast of music, song and oratory will be provided at the Home Mission Festival in the Cosy Theatre, Upper Hutt, to-night wihen the 107 th Anniversary of the Methodist Maori Mission will be celebrted. Theprogrmme will be given by the Maori Mission Party which has won such popularity throughout the Dominion. The programme will include part singing in Maori and English, Maori Customs, Poi Dances, Hakas, Stone Age Games, Instrumental Music, etc. The Party will appear in Maori costume. The Earthquake Relief Fund dance held in the Trentham Racecourse on Saturday the 10th inst., was an unqualified success, both financially and socially and the Fund will be augmented by £43 as a Tesult. The energetic organiser, Mrs. Hugh' Telford, and the members of the Committee which assisted her are to be congratulated onthe splendid manner in which the arrangements' were carried out. Tike Committee wishes to express its thanks to Miss Phyllis Bates who arranged an exhibition of dancing by two pupils from her School of Dancing, the Alhamfbrian Orchestra which travelled from Levin to provide excellent music for the dance, to the Wellington Racing Club for the use of tine Kiosk,- and to Mr N... Haley, Trentham Racecourse superintendant for having the Eioak prepared for the dance. Druids' Dance. The weekly dance at the Druids' Hall, Upper Hutt, which was held on Saturday last was well patronised and the Lodge social fund'will be considerably benefitted as a result.
