Hii 2 Upper Hutt Senior B team was to have played Training College on Saturday last tout as the College team did not put in an appearance the local team won by default. The third grade local team met Berhampore and after a close game Berhampore won by 14 points to 12. Upper Hutt sixth grade team won from Melrose by 8 points to nil. Roger Anderson played the best game on the' ground scoring two tries and converting one. Soccer. Trentham met Miramar Bangers in the Junior B Grade, at Quinn's Post ground, Upper Hutt, on Saturday last. Both teams were good and t&e game was very fast and interesting. Rangers, who are leading .in the Junior B competition, had the better of the exchanges in the first half of the game, scoring twice. The second, tiald was more evenly contested and the local team was unlucky in not scoring en more t»han one occasion. The final score of two goals to nil in favour of the visitors was a fair index- to the relative strength of the teams. Porteous, in goal, was a great asset to the Trentham team, saving his side on several occasions when a score by Miramar seemed a certainty. Smith in the backs and Moore in the forwards were noticed doing good work for the local team every member of which played well. The Trentham team was as follows: G-oal, Porteous; full backs, Wood end James; three-quarters: Hepburn, Smith and Ashford; forwards: A. Frater-, Milne, W. Prater, Moore and Hill. The executive of the Trentham Soccer ' Club is endeavouring to arrange a match between a team from the "French ' warship now in Wellington Jiarbour, an I a local eleven to be played at Maidstone Park on Saturday next. The match, if it eventuates, will certainly be well worth seeing and the executive are to be congratulated in their effort to provide this "tit-bit" for the local Soccer fans. School Matters. It is to be noticed that there is a very great improvement taking place in the appearance of the local school grounds; no doubt the. work thaT is being done is the result of the donation made by the Home and School Association to the School Committee and shows '. what can ibe done toy organised effort.
