PETONE BOY'S SUCCESS
Petone is known throughout the whole of the Dominion for its "consistency in producing footballers of outstanding merit and the. latest addition according to the Gisborne, "Times" of the 24th ultimo, is Bert Abrim, an ex-Petone boy of twenty years, whoa few years back was a prominent lower grade player. , Abrim appears to be following in his father's "footsteps, the popular ' ' Sam being an ex-Wellington repre-. "sentative, and a few jye&rs ago coached the Petone senior fifteen. The cutting _from the nol'them paper reads as follows : —'' Old . Besides scoring two good tries and showing Mmself to be a fine place-kick, this player who hails from Petone played a great forward game both in the tight "and the loose; Solidly built with a good turn of speed and a very sound knowledge of tactical play Abfim is a distinct possibil- I ity for the "rep team." Abfmii was eventually selected for the Poverty Bay team which defeated Tologa Bay the following week. The Petone boy is. also a promising cricketer and while stationed in Auckland last season played" for the Mount Eden senior eleven with distinction.
