HUTT VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL
The winter games .competitions are in full swing. Six boys' teams are playing in tie Saturday Secondary Schools' Rugbj^Competition four girls' teams in the similar competition a*^ ranged for basket ball. The boys opened the season splendidly gaining many wins, but' have not been so successful the last week 01 two. The competition contains all the teams from the local Secondary Schools except thatr the Wellington Collage First XV and the" St. Patrick College First XV are playing in the ordinary Rugby Union competitions untill Hutt, Rongotai and Scots become strong enough. T&e Hutt boys have beaten the Wellington College B and C teams in the Senior Grade but were beaten by the C team in a second match and also on Saturday last Rongotai College. The junior teams have secured more -than their shate of wins. A year or two 3feould see the Hutt Valley High School able to stand against the Wellington College and St. Patrick's College first fifteens .
The girls have already reached a standard in their games equal to the Wellington schools. During the summer they .proved superior in tennis to Wellington Girls * College, Wellington East Girls' College/the Technical, College, Queen. Margaret's and • MlPrsden, maintaining an unbeaten record. Three of t-he girls (and one boy) were chosen to represent Wellington Province in the Junior N.Z. Tennis Championship

ball this year they have defeated Well- ' ingtoh Girls' College but have been defeated by Wellington East and on Saturday last by Technical Collegeby a small margin. The girls are to j)e congratulated on so sapidly reaching a high level in athletics.
