CROQUET NOTES

Although the weather was so unfavourable on'the afternoon of the 11th inst, the function arranged by the Waimarie Croquet Club,' in aid of the Free Ambulance, was most successful. _Those who braved the. elements all brought gifts which were later, sold for the cause. Bridge and "Five Hundred *' were played in conjunction .with : other competitions, t>he winners being Mesdames Richards^,Robinson, Wall, Stonehouse Jones , and Roundliill'. A beautiful fruit cake donated : by Mrs. Strand, was won by Mrs. Palmer and raffia brooches by Me3dames Norris and Raiindhill, A delicious tea was senryed, and later Mrs. J. O'Shea delighted all' with her singing. About £9 was gain-' ed for the fund. The trophies for the competitions T^ere donated iby Mesdames Savage^ Cameron, Murphy, Cole, iTorris and Gowing.
