CROQUET NOTES
Although the weather was so unfavourable on'the afternoon of the 11th inst, the function arranged by the Waimarie Croquet Club,' in aid of the Free Ambulance, was most successful. _Those who braved the. elements all brought gifts which were later, sold for the cause. Bridge and "Five Hundred *' were played in conjunction .with : other competitions, t>he winners being Mesdames Richards^,Robinson, Wall, Stonehouse Jones , and Roundliill'. A beautiful fruit cake donated : by Mrs. Strand, was won by Mrs. Palmer and raffia brooches by Me3dames Norris and Raiindhill, A delicious tea was senryed, and later Mrs. J. O'Shea delighted all' with her singing. About £9 was gain-' ed for the fund. The trophies for the competitions T^ere donated iby Mesdames Savage^ Cameron, Murphy, Cole, iTorris and Gowing.

12th June,, when there-was a good attendance. The secretary's report disclosed a very successful season. Quite a'large sum had been raised by. members for various improvements, and the club now possesses a commodious and well-furnished pavilion.] Feeling reference was made to the passing of club members, including the J&te Mrs. E. Loekett, Mr. Yates, and Mr. Charles Trcyethick; the last named having been a, foundation inenlbeT; The fol* lowing" officers were' electe"d for. the. ensuing season: —President, .Mrs' Yates; vice-president^ Mrs. Bock; secretary, Mrs. Hendryj treasurer, Mrs, Leigirton committee , Mesdames Eddie, Teagle and Miss Wilkins; captain, »Mrs, Bock. Tea Committee: Mesdames Stonehonse, ParkeT, Wood and Miss Maeaskillj Delegates jfco.. the Association, Mrs Yates and* Mrs Bock. A hearty vote of. thanks was passed to the retiring President (Mrs. Eddie) who has done i much good work for the cip/b- during I her three years of office. - ' "
