BOWLING.

The .final game for. the MeArtkur' Shield; (the blue riband of the Hutt Valley Clubs)1 between rinks skipped by Jones and Eoundhill of the Wobxan Club, took place on the Central Green last Saturday week. Although the green was heavy it seemed to suit both teams and they were point and point right up to the seventeenth head, the score being 13 all. In bowling parlance, something, was bound to happen with the devil's number, und it happened. Jones got a. seven out of the next head and although Eoundhill made determined efforts to recoup, Jones ran out the winner with a safe margin of points. Mr. Pawson, the president, in -his usual felieitou-s style, presented the Shield to the winning link. Messrs Jones and Eoundhill responded on behalf oi the vwinning -and running-tip rinks respectively. The Shield, having been won from the Hutt Club, the previous holders, will now adorn the walls of the "^Tobum Pavilion to await the result *>f next year's competition. .
