LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.

"■■ Becipes have always an attractionfor the feminine .mind so that it. was not surprising that there was a\"verylarge attendance; at the April meeting: of the. League of Mothers. Mrs' Kersley is recognised as atf authority on ; household, craft and those-.present were delighted with, the wonderful display of dishes illustrating talk on ,a : "Pot-pourri of Seasonable Eecipes.'* She .dealt with household cleaning requisites, pickles, jams in season cakes, meat dishes, shapes etc giving the approximate cost of these article*. In addition she had prepared Tecipes of .all the dishes displayed and the members were' able to procure fdr themselves thosel- that, appealed jto : them. Many young mothers learnt of house-, hold hints quite new to them, while the older members added new and tried recipes to their own book. The tables were beautifully decorated' and Mrs. Kersley showed how to make an. ordinary meal table attractive. During the afternoon Mrs. Lopdell read Fay Mehfaren 's suitable poem '' The Ccfo-; web Eye»" Afternoon tea was served by 'an energetic committee under vtho supervision '6f- Mesdames Jenson and MacArthur^ and those in charge of the creche hadS'a very '-'hectic/; time, this pToving'?tiq be^-^. very popular institution. It wSs» aainouneed that Mesdames Chisholm andcMason had been appointed secretaries'. of the League and'that the re-organisation of the committee work was well in hand.

To the delight of all, Mis§ McLean, M.A., C.8.8, ex-principal of Wellington Girls' College, was announced as tire speaker for the May meeting of this branch,
