TROTTING.
The jST.Z. Gold Cup Meeting of the Wellington Trotting Club was held last Saturday afternoon on the Hutt Park Racecourse. The weather was dull but did not deter a large gathering of people from the ''Sport; oiS Kings. " A string band was in attendance, playing many popular airs. The track was in perfect order and many exciting finishes were witnessed. Hon. T. M. Wilf ord (in tfhe absence of Sir Joseph^ Ward) presented Mr R. Grant (owner of winner, Mate o' Mine), with the gold cup, and Mr C. H. Chapman M.P, presented M. B. Edwards (driver) with a gold mounted whip as a •momento. Cheers were given for the
owner and driver
Among some of the ladies present were noticed. Mrs Weyett wearing a black satin coat over a light frock, black hat; Mrs Bayne, fawn and blue, hat to match; Mrs Hardcastle, light tweed coat and skirt, scarlet hat; Miss Valeric Denniston, fawn costume, fawn hat; Mrs Hucheson, lavender frock, black silk coat and hat; Miss Pat. Matthews, light coat and fawn hat; Miss Vina Brodie, pink voile frock, black hat.
