INTER-CLUB ATHLETICS.

OLYMPIC v. LOWER HUTT.

A'friendly contest was held on Saturday afternoon on the HuH Valley High School grounds between representatives of' the Lower Hutt ad Olympic Clubs. Some forty athletes and their supporters made the, trip from the city, and' were welcomed'by thp president and hon. secretary of the Lower Hutt Club. Throughout the afternoon the weather was fine and warm, and the sport provided the fair attendance, of spectators was of a high standard.. :

Teams of three were entered by the clubs for' each event, and points were

allotted as follows:-—Running: Finishing positions .totalled, team with smallest number of points to be the winner; Field events: The Best efforts of teams to be totalled,:team with highest aggregate to be ; the winneiv 'The aggregate wins were: Olympic 9, Low;er Hutt 7.

The Lower Hutt Club proved superior in the field events and the ladies' races. It was unfortunate that the local eiub was deprived of the services of three of its best members, Misses Wilson and Kench who were competing at Wanganui and Cunningham-who is on the injured list. Olympic won' the honours in the flat events and the high jSimp'. The competition in every event was keen, and some fine finishes were witnessed, especially in the ladies' races, men's relay, and the 440 yards open.
