OBITUARY.
The late Mary Ann Jones, wife of William George Jones (known as J.D. Fruit Exchange), of 9 Tama Street, Lower Hutt, whose demise took place on Monday last, was a colonist of many years standing, having arrived in New Zealand with her husband in the sailing ship "Fern Glen" on the 21st March 1877. The deceased lady was born at Canterbury, Kent, Enland, about 73 years ago. With her husband and family she first settled at Waipawa, Hawke's Bay, and subsequently resided at Hastings and Napier. The last 20 years however, have been spent in the environs of Wellington. Of a loving and kindly disposition she endeared herself to all Avho had the pleasure of her acquaintance. In addition to her husband she is survived by eight sons and two daughters: —Messrs W. W., H. 0., and R. J, (Palmerston North), C. A. (Cambridge), W. A. Christchurch), Eddie (Seatoun), S. O. (Petone), and L. H. (s.s Maheno) ; and Mesdames W- Lawson (Westport), and F. Leeks (Kilbirnie). One daughter predeceased her six years ago.
