COLLISION ON RAMP

A DRIVER IN COURT

On Saturday evening, after the races at Hutt Park, a collision between three cars took place on the top of the Randwj.ck Road Ramp at Lower Hutt. A taxi-cab, driven by Frank Titus Laurie, was proceeding in the direction of Hutt Park when it swerved across the road, striking first one car and then another, both coming from the opposite direction. The taxi came to rest projecting partly through the broken parapet of the ramp. All three cars were more or less badly damaged about the fronts, while a passenger in the last car struck, Mrs A. Johns, was badly cut about the face, and had to be attended to by the City Ambulance. Last Monday morning at the Lower Hutt Police Court, before Messrs G. A. Chapman and D. C. Martin, J.P.s, Laurie was charged witn being intoxicated while in charge of a car. An application for an adjournment until 3rd October was granted, and his bail (£2O) was renewed .
