WAIWHETU PARENTS' ASSOCIATION.
A very successful Fancy Dress Dance was held last Saturday at the Hutt Park Pavilion. It was patronised by a large number of people who appeared thoroughly satisfied with their evening's diversion. The whole of the fancy dress costumes were very good, which made it difficult in the awarding of prizes which were decided as follows: —Ladies: Best Dressed, Mrs Gardiner (Harem Lady); Most Original, Miss IT. Jones (Lord Nelson); Comical, Miss Collins, (Felix the Cat). GentsBest Dressed, Mr Gardner (The Bajah); Most Original, Mr. K. Jones (Wireless); Comical, Mr. Douglas (Black Cat). A special consolation prize was awarded to Mrs Pearce as ''Hutt News.'' Mesdamcs Turner and Pegler, and Mr W. E. Edlin officiated as judges. The inclement weather did not seem to affect the attendance, the heavy rain keeping off until the majority of patrons had arrived, and reflections of an enjoyable evening counteracted their uncomfortable journey home. The Gaiety Orchestra who were arrayed as nigger minstrels gave a delightful performance and entered heartily into the spirit of the fun and needless to say were kept well employed all the evening. Mr. O. Prier again obliged with a supper extra at the piano which was very much appreciated. The hall was suitably decorated with bunting and ferns and evergreens, the latter being kindly sup-
plied by Mr Morgan and his Maori boys. The committee had a busy time and wish to thank the public who attended and helped to make the evening
a success, thus swelling the school
