KIA HIWI ENTERTAINMENT
A most enjoyable entertainment was held under " the auspices of the Kai _Hiwi Club in the Wesley Hall on Wednesday ( 13th June. This Club is run in connection Avith the Girls' Bible •Classes and forms a very active section ■of the Lower Hutt Methodist Church. The opening item was a part-song, ■"Softly Falls the Shades of Evening" followed by the chorus "Humpty JDumpty." Miss Foote and Mr. Haigh .gave a line rendering of the pianoforte ■duet "Qui Vivi^' J and two of the girls delighted the audience with a demonstration of club swinging. A vocal duet "Till Dawn," was pleasingly .sung by the Misses Taylor. The next item on the programme was an enter--taining dialogue, the performers being Misses Foote and Saunders and Messrs King and Haigh. The parts were well sustained throughout and the - performance reflected great credit on the actors. An Esquitragedy, presented by the girls caused much amusement and Miss Saunders did a charming poi fiance, giving as her encore number a graceful exhibition of the canoe-poi. Miss Foote and Mr Haigh again playtheir choice this time being "A Fete Dance,'' for which +hey -were encored. Miss C. Taylor sang vtwo songs and Miss V. Crawford !s xescitation was well received. The setting for the last item .was a Camp .Fire, round which the Club girls, picturesquely arranged, sang various Dar;Me melodies, the mandolin accompaniments being played by Mr N. Smith. Mrs E. A. Surtees and Mr. H. O. Haigh were accompanists for the evening.
