LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
King George's Hall was the scence of a memorable meeting of the Lower Hutt Branch of the League of Mothers last Thursday when a very large audience of mothers assembled to hear Dr PlattsMills speak on that vital subject, ''General Hygiene and the Teaching of it to Growing Children." She dealt with her difficult subject in an understanding and kindly manner, with a fearlessness tempered by a grace that comes from seasoned experience in dealing with delicate situations. The position was so placed before the mothers that it aroused them to a new sense of* their responsibility to their bairns.
She pleaded that it was the right of the children to know the laws of Nature from the lips of their parents rather than from outside agencies when the truth' is often distrusted and pointed truth is often distorted, and. pointed be not given. Dr Platts-Mills has kindly consented to return at some future date to continue her talk on this wide and important subject, when it is hoped that the mothers will be alive to the fact that they have an opportunity to hear truths expressed in simple language by one with ripe experience as a mother and a doctor.
Mrs Jollands supplied incidental music during the afternoon and Mrs liopdell read Fay Inchfun's appropriate lines on " The Mother.''
Artornoim tea was served under the leadership of Mrs Strand (Mayoress), and Mrs Kerslev (President) announced that the next mooting would take, the form of a combined meeting—the first in the Wellington province—when Husbands arc ;nvitod to join their wives $i£ what promises to be a most interesting^ evening.
