Hutt Dental Clinic.
The first meeting of the new Clinic Committee was held on Monday, 4th July. There were present: Messrs. Burgess, McArthur, Dyer, Webster, Greening and Gearing. The balance-sheet and annual report for the year ending 31st March were read and adopted. Mr. Dyer, chairman of Eastern Hutt School, was elected chairman for the ensuing year, and Mr. Gearing w.as re-elected hon. secretary and treasurer. With the number of children charted now standing at 961, the Committee will, possibly be faced with the position of having to enlarge its accommodation and securing an additional nurse, though the latter is perhaps hard to obtain, in view of so many districts applying to the Department of Health to establish new clinics. This district was very fortunate when, some years ago, the possibilities were seen and the opportunity grasped to establish a Clinic, and parents should feel particularly grateful for the gentlemen who were responsible for it. Increased interest is being shown by parents, and they have shown a practical side to that interest. This is shown by the in 7 crease in the voluntary subscriptions
placed in the box at the Clinic. These amounted to some 25/- for the period April to June, and though the amount contributed may appear small, it is a considerable increase over a corresponding period in previous years. The Committee hope to arrange an entertainment in the near future to provide funds for currenc expenses, and hope to receive the same support as last year. If this is forthcoming, the possibilities of having to call oh the school committees for funds will be very remote.
