Bus and Car Parking.

There has been a great deal of controversy of late about by-laws, parking laws, and anti-motor laws in general, but in our opinion the most important aspect has been overlooked. The bus proprietors are al-

lowed to park their buses in the Main Street without any time limit—they may stand in the one position all day if they desire. On the other hand, the car owner who drives into town to do a week's shopping, is limited to twenty minutes' standing time. The bus service is detrimental to local business, and should not receive special concessions at the hands of the Borough Council. On the other hand the shopper is an asset, and should be encouraged to spend his money in the town, not scared away. The space now occupied as a bus stand would be much better used as a parking place for cars. If the buses were parked at the entrance to Queen's Road from Main Street and allowed their present stopping places through the town, we feel sure they would suffer no hardships, and the car owners would be better catered for.
