(Received at Levin 1 p.m.) THE DOMINION'S GREETINGS. London, Dec. 21. The Rt. Hon. W. l'\ iM-assey and Sir J. G. Ward sent joint Christinas cards to the officers and men of tho New Zealand forces, conveying the Dominion's greetings, and expressing the hope that tho time wo'iilci soon come when they will return home with victory and honor. PEACE MEETING PROHIBITED. Amsterdam. Dec. 21. The police prohibited a great Socialist peace meeting at Liepzig. TROUBLES OF GREEK TROOPS. Paris, Oec. 24. In consequence of the Allies' blockade the Greek troops are 'receiving only bread rations. The Allies continue to control the movement of troops and turned back to Peloponnesus some divisions that were proceeding northward.
'ITAiLIAN" STEAMER SUNK. j The armoured cruiser Ernestrenan collided with and cut in two pieces an Italian steamer. Of the passengers on the latter 115 were picked up and 15' perished. *j GENERAL OASTLENAU PROMOTED. General Castelnau has been appoint-': ed Chief of Staff of the armies in the north. i
