At Levin to-day the Horowhenua 'County Council is holding its ordinary monthly meeting, Mr G .Monk, chairman presiding. Gardiner. 11011 secretary to the Public Library, Shannon, applied to tlio council for a subsidy to the library funds. The Poplar Flaxmilling Company asked the council to decide that section llfi of the Public Works Acit, should not apply to land fronting Mnnnwatn River (being part Mannwatu-Kukiitauaki 2F and 2G. such land being at a portion of the river that is mavigable by steamers.

Tn connection with the sale of part of Wirokino Estate to Messrs Oarter and Michie, Messrs Grace Brcfi. «sked the Council to consent to a transfer to His Majesty the King of the land for a road (with an acceptance by the council) which procedure would obviate an obligation for the council to metal some 60 chains of the 75-link read under the control of the council connnecting the Rangiwliinui Block ■with the main road.
