Clothing For The Needy
AX AOK XOWLEDGMENT. Mrs Banks, of Weraroa, is in roceipt of the folowing letter and enclosure from Lady Stout (Wellington):— 238, The Terrace. .December oth, 1916. Dear Mrs Banks.— The following is a copy of a letter received to-day in acknowledgment of the cases of clothing sent to 'Edinburgh, which was sent away in May but was not shipped until July and evidently not received until October. The docks in London are so congested that it is difficult to get goods away. All my cases have reached their destination even after I had despaired of their airrival. T hope you saw the acknowledgment (in the Evening Post and Dominion) of the former cases* which were sent to Glasgow. The last cases I sent were for Miss Cuthbertson, a. lady who is on the school board of [Pollookehiekls, Glasgow, where help is much needed. I have another case nearly ready which I may send to London, but I have not quite- decided. I know all the things I have sent have been much appreciated. I have to thank you sincerely for your generous assistance. Perha« your local paper would' publish the letter as so much lias come from yon and your friends. I should like it 1 to be published as I cannot personally ) thank all the helpers for their generosity. With the season's greetings, yours sincerely, ANNA P. STOUT. (Copy of Letter). Soldiers' and Sailors' Families' Association. (East Scottish Branch.) Head Office, Edinburgh, 60 Oasteestreet,' 7th October, 1916. To Lady Stout, Wellington, N.Z. Dear Madam, —The two cases of clothing so kindly collected by you have arrived. The gift is a most useful and' valuable one, and coming at the beginning of winter, will be a very great help to us in dealing with cases of distress among the families of Biir soldiers and sailors. Apart from the value of the gift, I should! like to express my appreciation of all the trouble and kind though that must liave been expended; and to thank you, and all the donors, for your generosity. It is doubly prized as an sxpression of kindly feeling from our 3oimtrywomen across the sea.—l am, etc., MARJORIE MACKENZIE, President.
