There are now very few old potatoes arriving. -New potatoes are coming in more plentifully and realize satisfactory prices. The ■ price of whent still shows a tendency to advance. Maize is firm at recent rates. Oats show a sSghtly weaker tendency and fair business 1 doing. Pollard and bran are steady. Dressed pork is in f;l\V demand and prices slightly lower. Eggs are scarce and price remains firm. Honey is 6low of sale. Poultry is in exceedingly good demand and realising fancy prices. Vegetables:—Choice cabbage .and cauliflower show an improved; demand and satisfactory prices are now being realised. Large quantities of lettuce have been coming in and prices are much lower. Carrots, parsnips and white turnips are in short supply and bring high prices. Spring onions, leeks and beetroot meet with ready sale. Rhubarb is plentiful and the demand good. Choice Nfclson green peas are keenly bought up but inferior lines are slow of sale. Fruit: —Strawberries, gooseberries and passions arei arriving in small parcels and cause keen competition. Larger quantifies of local cherries are now coming! to hand andi meet with ready sale. Wheat.—Good whole! fowl, 7s per bushel. • Chaff.— Oate Sheaf, £5 15s to £6 per ton.
