Druids and Bowlers Foregather
4 : "SEND-OFF" TO MR. ECOLETON. Levin Druids' Lodge and Levin ■Bowling Club combined, last night, to give a "sendt-off" to their mutua4(member, Mr, W. Eccleton, who has been transferred to Pahiatua. with the appointment of accountant, by the Bank of New Zealand. Several friends of Mr. Eccleton who aro outside of the two memberships mentioned also assisted to make the function a success. In all there were some 50 persons assembled. The gathering was marked by a feeling of good fellowship, and a highly-enjoyable evening resulted. Mr. W. Macintosh occupied the chair, as arch-druid, and he was supported oil his right by the mayor of Levin andi on his left by Mr. C. H. Pyke. president of the bowling club.
Mr. Blenkhorn, on behalf of the gathering, presented Mr Eccleton with a set of military' hair-brushes, andi in felicitous phrase expressed the general appreciation of the citizens of Levin for the good business qualites and social qualities that were so admirably combined in the guest of the evening. Messrs F. G. Roe and J. Mclntyre also spake in appreciative phrase concerning Mr Eccleton's many admirable qualities. Mr Eccleton, in responding, expressed his appreciation of tho honor done him. He referred to the happy five years he had passed in Levin, andi the regret he felt at severing so many ties of friendship.
Following is the toast list of the evening: "The King"; ''Our Guest," proposed by Mr C. Blenkhorn. supported by Messrs F. G. Roe 'and J. McIntyre; reply, Mr Eccleton; "Navy, Army and' Air Service," proposed by 'Mr W. Macintosh, responded to by Mr G. P. Brown; "Our Boys at the Front," proposed 'by Mr Tom Brown, responded to by Mr W. Thomson. Songs were contributed by Messrs Vickers, Currie. S.. Hall, Eccleton and Matheson. and recitations by (Messrs Thomson Brown,, and Denton.
