The Price of Butter.
* FINED ISY ORDER IN COUNCIL. [I'Jill I'KIiSS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Last ! N~ight. The Hon. \Y, D. Mac Donald, President of the Board of Trade made the following statement to-night, covering the gazetted regulations governing the price of butter. The principle underlying the scheme was that those factories supplying the local market at the price fixed would be compensated for the difference between the fixed local price and the export price from a fund to be raised by the issue of export licenses to both butter and cheese factories. Only those butter and cheese factories that take out a license will be allowed to export. The fee for the export license will be fixed from time to time by the Board of Trade on a basis of tho butter fat entering the factory. The contribution fixed by to-day's Ordier-in-Council is id per pound of butter-fat and the price at tho factory for "butter is 49s (id per cwt, or Is -id per lb. The administration of the ischemo has been placed in the hands of Mr Trigg.s, Public Service Commissioner, who has handled the Imperial meat supply scheme. Factories will be supplied with the necesasry forms on which to make application for license to export. It is hoped that the committee appointed by the recent conference of dairymen will be available to assist the Boardi of Trade with advice in carrying out the scheme and in helping to remove any difficulties that may arise.
