Burglaries At Otaki
A series of burglaries have occurred <vt Otaki of late and two fresh cases were reported on Saturdaiv night last. The premises of Miss Hest, Waerenga road, were entered by a window andl a -sum of money (about £2 10s) .stolen. A gold wa tcl\ and other jewellery were left undisturbed. The theft occurred early at night.
The same night Mrs McCleJland's dwelling, Riverbank road, was entered. The burglar ransacked the place, but, finding no money,, went away without I any booty. Evidently the thief was after monciy, and nothing else, as several articles of jewellery were passed orer. This makes the fourth theft in Otaki within a> few days. It is thought by the police that the culprit is a novice, probably a vouth. The police have preferred a charge of theft against, a lad, in connection with a petty thoft that occurred in the town lately and in all probability the culprit in the other cases will be detected.—Mail.
