PULP AND PAPER MAGAZINE. At no time in the history of the pulp and paper industry in Canada was business better than it is at the present time. ft may he true that a few years ago there was a boom and a number of new companies were formed, but their inception was largely the work of promoters and speculators rather than the result of the natural expansion of the industry. To-diay, however, business is improving as a result of increased demands. I here are nearly a dozen Canadian mills making additions to their plants, increasing their output or preparing to build new mills. A number of other companies are being formed for tho purpose of building plants Tti Northern Ontario and Northern Quebec. Important extensions are being planned at Hawkesbnry, Merritton, Shawinigan Falls, Cap Madeleine. Three Rivers, and at Smooth Falls, Northern Ontario, 'flie pulp and paper men throughout the Dominion realize that the present and tvho immediate future are bi'j; with possibilities and are preparing to make Canada the pulp and paper nianuf'ic uring nf the North American Continent.
