» THE GERMAN ATTACK ON VERDUN. t'aria, June 13.
A semi-official report states tliat the Crown Prince again is hurling troops to masacre regardless of loss of life. Monday's battle was hellish but the Germans failed! to enlarge their salient westward ot Fort Vaux, and next launched troops against Lhiaumont, hoping thenco to penetrate the Floury ravine. A desperate allday battle, and a series ot' incessaut assaults ensued, each of which were countered! by gusts of tire until the enemy abandoned the effort, our 1 1 no remaining intact. No fewer tlian 30,000 bayonets participated in the assauits and the enemy was decisively routed. The bombardment ot our first and second lines was resumed immediately ,showing a determination to continue the desperate 'attempt to .reach Verdun on that side.
