« IBENCH AM) ARTILLERY „ SCENES. The Special Correspondent of the London Daily Mail, writing from General Headquarters, i<ranee, at the beginning of December, said; — Before Onristmas (191oj the public at home will be able to see the ordinary daily life ol the British soldier in the. field portrayed on the Kinematograph screen. 1' or home time past a London expert, who is working under the auspices of the Afar Office, has beer, visiting parts of the front, with the result that some six hlms have now been prepared for exhibition. The work is heing steadily continued, and it is intended to make a record of tiie daily routine of every branch of the Army now at the front. The troops will be seen at work and at play, in the trenches and out of them; guns ol all calibres will be seen 111 action, the part of the aeroplane 111 the war will be fully represented, while special attention is being given 10 pictures of machine gluts and bombing. The films which have already been completed include one which shows the career of a recruit in the Artists' Hides until he passes out by way of the cadet school as an offcer. Another picture is devoted, to a machine gun school, where imen from the trenches are given expert instruction in the handling ot all these weapons. Other pictures depict scenes in the daily life of our Indian troops and some London Territorials. The authorities hope that these films taken actually in the fighting zone, will enable the public at home to visualise the environment and conditions in which the men are fighting.
