The Levin School committee held its monthly meeting last evening in the .schoolroom. All the members were present with the exception 01 the Kev. \V. H .E. Abbey. A letter from tlio Kevin Borough Council in lelerenco to the sanitary rate was 'deferred until next meeting. The visiting committee's report showed a. satisfactory state o! affairs, apart from the epidemic oi measles, and good progress -was Cieing made with the painting of the school. Accounts amounting to £12 wore passed for payment.
The first meeting of the newly-a|t pointed Levin Domain Board was held in the council chambers last evening. A statement submitted by the Town Clerk, Mr B. R. Gardener, showed the present position of the domains affairs. He stafed that he had. written [o the Commissioner of Crown Lands .stating that he had received the property of the Late domain board ■with the exception of the I'osfc Office Hank Book which showed a credit ol 4J29 16s 4d on the 31st December. 1914. He asked if this credit belonged to the new. board, andi if the Commissioner had received any rent trmn Mr Kirkonklie, (-he lessee, and if so what amount? No answer had beoti received to this letter up to last evening. The credit in the bank book and the rent 'accruing totalled £91 5s 7d tit was decided to await a reply to the letter, and in ~ tlie meantime tho board, together with the members oi the old board, will visit and inspect tlie domain on Wednesday, December 15th.
