Teimaut'B admission in the House of Commons that Mrs Savile, who is oi German birth, and the wife of the rector of an East Coast parish, is employed by ETio War Office. iNotico of further questions has been given. The lady is a cousin of General Bothnie, the German commander on tho river Strypa against the Russians in Galicia. It also is reported that Admiral von Tirpitz's son was Mrs Savile's guest prior to the war. Madrid. Dec 3. 'Ihe newspapers give prominence to a rumour that the batteries, on Europa point sank a German submarine traversing the Straits of Gibraltar.
FOUND GUILTY. New York, Dec. a. The Federal District Court found three high officials, and one subordinate officer of the Hamburg-America line guilty of having violated the Jaws of the United States by supplying Uerman cruisers in the South Atlantic with coal and other supplies, early in the war. The jury returned a verdict of guilty on each of two indictments on a specific charge of conspiracy to deceive and defraud the 0 niterl States. The maximum penalty for each indictment is two yearn imprisonment and h fine of ten thousand dollars. The fine and sentence will not be imposed until to-morrow when the judge will hear a formal motion of the defence to set aside the verdict and arrest the judgment. The date of passing sentence will be designated then.

Dor days clic Allied commanders telegraphed t> Colonel Vassitcli asking if all was welt and he invariablj' replied that he still was holding out. On .Monday after--1 noon however he showed unaccountable delay in replying, and it was midnight before ho telegraphed; "We are holding a position on the Cerna." Other telegrams from the frontiei showed that the end had come. The Bulgarians had advanced south-east for fifteen kilometres beyond iMonastir, threatening to surround the little army and Colonel Vassitcli's only chance was a precipitate retreat to Uclirida, Six thousand men arrived/ from the north at the last moment, and it was thought they would, enable Col. Vassitcli to prolong the defeuce, but they were worn out and had been foodless for 48 hours. Their uniforms were in rags and they had hardly any boots after their 17 days' march on mountain roads.
