On Thursday last the Manawatu Daily Times (Palmerston North) was taken over by Mr P. O. Freeth, who aesumes both the editorship and management. Mr Freeth is acting <m behaJf of a number 01 Palmerston citizens who have purchased the property from Mr W. H. Smith. The Times was under Mr Freeth's supervision some years back, when it liao the most effective and profitable pare of ite journalistic as well ae business existence. A recrudescence of tliosa times is sure to follow Mr Freoth's resumption of control. Tejiders for the erection of a bridge (labour only) on the Reikiorangi-Mari-gaone road are invited by the County Engineer. Full particulate appoar on page 3. In yesterday's list ol wounded appeared the name oi Trooper Robert Coley, of the Wellington Mounted Rifles, next-of-kin Mrs E. J. Sullivan (mother) of Shannon. A call to the Rev. Bowden Harris, of Palriatua, is being signed by members of the Levin Presbyterian Church. Tho call will he at the Church next Sunday and the Sundiay following and at Mr P. Stewart's, Queen-street, during the week for signatures. Only two civil cases came to hearing at Levin S.M. Court yesterday; the remainder of the list was adjouiTiedi for hearing later -in the month. Judgmo.it by default of defendante, who failed io appear, was entered by Mr Poynton. S.M., in tho case of N. 0. Ho Ida way v Dave Wilson, claim £3 Is lOrl ;and. that of N. A .Anderson v.
