STOCK. SALES

Messrs Dalgety and Company Limited report that at their Otaki stock sale on Tuesday of last week they offered a good yarding of both sheep. And cattle. Prices were much better Chan at the previous sale and keen competition took place for all lines offered. The principal sales were as under: —Empty store ewes 17s 7d; half-bred owes with small percentage ol lamus 17s Bd, lorwnrd ewes 19s 3d ; poor condition store ewe,s 15s to Ins Gd; fat wethers 30s. Vealei's 22s to 265; light fat tows £/ 15s, £8 7s Gd, £9; forward store cows £5 2s Gd to £5 17s Gd ; yearling steers £3 lfis; springing heifers £5 to £5 18s.

At the Levin sale last Wednesday, Dalgetv and Company, Limited, offered a fair yarding of sheep and a heavy yarding of cattk\ Prices all round were very firm, especialy so in cattle, and in a great many instances the rise foi male cattle took place of 10s to 15s per head. The sales were as under:--

Eat wethers 31s Gd; ewes and hunhs 25s lid, 27s Gd. 29s 7d ; shorn hoggete lGs 8d ; forward empty ewes 20s 9d. Light weight fat cows £6 15sto £7 lis; veale rs 20s to 23s Gd ; light weight fat heifers £5 7s Gd to £5 12s; fair condition e<l empty cows C' 4 8s to £5 l is ; medium store cows £3 5s to £4 10s; yearling steers £3 3s fid ; 5-year empty heifers, poor condition. C 3 lis; poor condition 2- and 3-vear steers £5 lis; cows and calves £•') to £(3 3s; yearling heifers £2 to £2 10s; 2-year old springing heifers £4 Gs.

At the Pppe.r Hut-t sale on Friday, 26th ultimo. Dalgety and Co.. I/tcl.. offered a medium yarding of cattle. Competition for all lines offered ivas good and practically a total clearance was effected under the hammer. Sales were as under: — 18-month heifers 1-2 7s Gd to C 2 13s: 3- and -1-year-old steers £8 ss: 3-year steers C 7 /s: good condition store cows C 5 12s to CO 0s; yearling heifers £2 8s (id; cows in milk £<> to £6 ss.
