It is doußtful whether Botha will command a majority without the Unionists' support, but this is assured,. Labour is very w«ak. THE LATEST RETURNS. Capetown ,October 21. General Smuts, Mr Sampson (Laboruv Whip), Mr Abo Bailey, Sir P. Fitzpa trick have been elected. Mi* Cresswell (Labor) lias been defeated, and i'outsma and llewe also have been defeated. Serfontein, a Nationalist Imprisoned during the rebellion, won Hie Kronstadt seat, defeating Mr Deivit, Minister of Justice. Sir J. B. Robinson (Independent) lias been elected for I.'andfontein, and Sir D. Harris (Independent- for Beaconshold, and Sir O. i Crowe (Unionist) for East London. General Botha's nominee at Potohofstroom, where the rebellion was hatched, was elected by a three to one majority. A striking feature in the Witwatersrand c« litres was the large Unionist majorities over the Labourites. There was heavy polling throughout. At Durban Mr Kcntridge (Labor!te) I defeated Mr Henwood (Unionist) for Durban Central.
