General Smuts, Mr Sampson (Laboruv Whip), Mr Abo Bailey, Sir P. Fitzpa trick have been elected. Mi* Cresswell (Labor) lias been defeated, and i'outsma and llewe also have been defeated. Serfontein, a Nationalist Imprisoned during the rebellion, won Hie Kronstadt seat, defeating Mr Deivit, Minister of Justice. Sir J. B. Robinson (Independent) lias been elected for I.'andfontein, and Sir D. Harris (Independent- for Beaconshold, and Sir O. i Crowe (Unionist) for East London. General Botha's nominee at Potohofstroom, where the rebellion was hatched, was elected by a three to one majority. A striking feature in the Witwatersrand c« litres was the large Unionist majorities over the Labourites. There was heavy polling throughout. At Durban Mr Kcntridge (Labor!te) I defeated Mr Henwood (Unionist) for Durban Central.
