END-OF-SEA*SOiN COMPEUTIONS. Tho ladies oi tho Heatlierlea Golf Club gave an afternoon tea in aid of the wounded soldiers, and also held the end-ot-season competition on tlie links yesterday afternoon. The weather conditions were porfect and a good number of people took tho opportunity i>l visiting the links and s» most enjoyable "afternoon was spent in the lovely sunshine. Mrs Goldsmith, the lion, treasurer to the Levin Patriotic Society, collected the- proceeds from tho tea. and over £2 10* will be added to the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. Tn the unavoidable absence of Mr Hughes, the president ot the club, Dr. Bryson kindly presented the Abraham and Clark Challenge Oups to the toilea's, the former (for the men) was won by W. G. Clark, an<l the latter (for tho ladies) was -won by llrs W. M. Clark. The special cup presented by Mw Clark for the runner-up in the ladies' championship was presented to Mrs V. Hi tellings, junr. Owing to the .small attendance of men there was poor competition in their class. The ladies gave a choice afternoon tei, including all kinds of choice cakes, etc., and they also served fruit salad, jellies, and -whipped cream, which were much enjoyed during the hot afternoon.
